Museo di Arte Sacra Beato Angelico (Vicchio)

There is a small but very precious museum in Vicchio town, the place where the painter Beato Angelico was born. It is only 10 min drive from our place.

Museum has a collection of masterpieces of religious masters.

"He who dedicate the life to art needs peace and no burden of worry. He who does Christ's work must stay with Christ always"

It was reported to be said by Fra Beato Angelico (circa 1400-1455) was an Italian painter of the Early Renaissance. His real name is Guido di Pietro.  And his biographer Vasari drew the picture of Fra Angelico as a painter who:

"never took up his brush without first making a prayer. He never made a crucifix when the tears did not course down his cheeks . . ."

The evidence in his painting points far more to a man who was the soul of patience and mildness, but calm, even cool, in temperament.

You can find Fra Angelico's paintings in The Louvre Museum (Paris), The State Hermitage Museum (St.Petersburg), The National Gallery ( London), The Uffizi Gallery ( Florence), San Marco Museum (Florence), The Rijksmuseum (Amsterdam), The Prado Museum (Madrid), The Metropolitan Museum of Art of New York City (New York)

Not long after his death, he was called angelico (“angelic”) because of his moral virtues. “Angelic painter... John by name as famous as Giotto and Cimabue”
